Has anybody in the New York area ever shot in a PADDED ROOM like those found in psychiatric hospitals years ago? Pic attached to give you a better idea of what I'm looking for. Please message me if you can help find this ever-ellusive location! thanks.

Unless you can find a closed down Psych hospital with the right look, I think you are going to be making your own padded cell. Sheets of Upholsters foam, covered with heavy duty white poly plastic and tufted with drywall screws and washers should give you the look you're after. Find yourself a good scenic carpenter.
Try dominatrixes. Seriously. Somebody in NYC has one.
A reputable stage or soundstage will have in-house staff that can construct this on its own stage. Much more efficient. Also, a prop shop might already have this padding available or can find it for you. Of course, it should be budgeted.
Thanks JD. Appreciate your thoughts. Royce, when you say try dominatrixes, you're saying try actual dominatrixes? Or is that industry code for something else?! And thanks Allen, soundstages are the probable way to go. Just looking to save money.
LOL. No code, just practical location scouting. Somebody has a padded cell "playroom". Might be cheaper than a standing set rental, def cheaper than building it proper.
In NYC, any practical location that may have had such a room, was long ago shut down. A private club would not want the publicity or run the risk that you were an undercover.
