Just reading the headline, I agree with this! I can't tell you how many low budget horror films I've seen where they leave out the horror part. A friend of mine made a low budget "stalk and slash" horror flick and left out the stalk and the slash! They just find the victims dead! No chase, no suspense, no dread, no attack and struggle and possibility to escape and then TWIST things go wrong. Just: Hey, another dead person, then a ten minute static conversation. Yikes! Needless to say - it's one of the 98% of indie films that never got any sort of distribution (no DVD, nothing). Work in a genre you love, then deliver.
