Following up with Producers

Hi, I have a production company who is interested in my script. They have read it and liked it. I've checked in with them and they have said they are waiting on others to get back to them. I've also recently sent them some praise from other readers as a nudge. This has been going on for about 3 months. The last time I contacted them was about 3 weeks ago. Recently I learned that our script made the top 10% of the Bluecat screenplay competition... should I shoot them an email and let them know? How much bothering is too much... is this worth while news to send them?

Until you have ink on paper, it's your job to keep pitching to new people. With that being said, if you like these guys I would suggest two things. Be more communicative and outline expectations and processes. One thing you could try is this: Hey Bob...I really like you guys so i'm going to give you first shot at this script...say an exclusive for 3 months. That's a big risk on my part because Im a starving artist. I'm happy to answer any questions you have or continue some dialogue if needed, but after BLANK date, I've gotta start selling it again because of BLANK. Does that sound fair? The shut up and listen.

If their interest is legit, use that leverage to sign with a manager or agent who will then deal with them. If the company has a good rep, and their interest is genuine, then you have a great chance at signing with a manager, and a good chance of signing with an agent. Then you let them deal with the company.

Thanks everyone!

I waited on them... They finally got back to me to set up a meeting for a potential project! Patience works, thank God!
