Looking for Ideas

What kind of genre or type of storyline would travel well in China, Canada and around the world? What type of stories do you want to see set in China? I'm trying to avoid what has been done successfully in China (martial art film, historical epic set in China's past).

J A Wadsworth

"China, Canada" how about a drama about the Chinese workers that built the Canadian railroad. There also the WW2 holding camps in BC that housed many Chinese immigrants, David Suzuki was on of them.

Frank Wood

How about a Chinese remake of Rose Marie?

Todd Terwilliger

What stories do you want to tell?

Thanks for the ideas. I'm looking to pitch a feature film idea via the Whistler Film Festival (Canada-China Gateway for Film). Kem: docs or fictional films shot in China won't work because it has to pass the Censorship Board. If it criticizes the gov't, it won't pass. J.A. Already done before. Look up The Iron Road. David is Japanese and BC had Japanese concentration camps. Frank: Good idea. Have you seen a production of Rose Marie? Todd: Don't know yet. Maybe write a script filled with sight gags, but with a serious story like AIRPLANE!
