Screenwriting : Mercy code by Kenneth Alan Moore Jr

Mercy code

Good day Screenwriting community,

I am a new member and a first time television writer. I have completed an eight episode limited drama series — all scripts written, professionally packaged, and federally copyrighted.

I come from a non traditional background. Twenty year Air Force veteran. Business development executive. I did not go to film school. I did not come up through writers rooms. I wrote the story I was compelled to write and I wrote it completely.

Now I am navigating a world I am new to and I have some genuine questions for this community:

1. As a first time television writer without credits or a writers room background — what is the most realistic path to finding a TV literary manager?

2. Is it better to target TV literary managers specifically or start with production companies?

3. For those who have been through this process — what do you wish someone had told you before you started?

I am not here to promote my project. I am here to learn from people who have walked this road before me. Any honest advice is genuinely appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome Kenneth, and what a background to bring to this! A TV literary manager is honestly the move here because once you find the right one, they go to work for you so you don't have to figure out this whole maze alone. Stage 32 is already a great place to start making those connections!

Thank you Sam, I'm hoping I can draw enough interest that it will want to be read. I truly believe that when it's read the vision is clear and powerful enough for someone to want to move on it immediately. I't took me close to a year to write it and Season 2 is in the beginning stages.

Hi Kenneth, I'm new here too and I'm looking for a pathway forward. Have you thought about submitting your pilot to the TV Drama Screenwriting Contest? It seemed like a good opportunity to me and the deadline is coming up. Good luck and let me know if you connect with anyone.
