Reverse Engineering

I have one screenplay written and the idea for a few more grinding in my head and rattling in my chest. I'm curious to know how some of y'all process. Do you have a concrete idea/story and flesh it out, or do you focus on themes and their effects and then attach those to a story?

Amber Brown

I usually start with a scene. Write it out with one or two characters. Then develop a plot around the character’s goals. I usually stumble upon a theme from there. Then comes the serious story crafting.

Dan that sounds amazing!

Thank you everyone! It is great to see so many different processes. It looks like I will be taking a different approach in my next project, and it helps to know what works for others. Your feedback is appreciated!
