Screenwriter Cory Goodman scores a spec deal for horror script. Yes Virginia, for Cory, there may be a Santa Claus.

Today, script maven Scott Meyers wrote a short piece about a spec deal for Cory Goodman, who recently wrote the Underworld, Blood Wars. So I"m assuming Goodman is a pretty good writer.

Pace of this deal shows the appetite for material that can be turned into movies quickly. Verve sent the script out to buyers Monday afternoon, and there were multiple bidders by the following day with Paramount prevailing late Tuesday evening.

Deal is a reported high-six figures.

Goodman is repped by Verve and Aperture Entertainment.

By my count, this is the 15th spec script deal in 2018.

Here's an article about it in Deadline Hollywood.

There were 31 spec script deals year-to-date in 2017.
