So the result from my first ever pitch was not the success I imagined it to be. In honesty I bombed it lol. I know that while writing a script is my strongest point, writing a pitch is my weakest and something I'm going to have to work on. A little disheartened but still at it.... if anyone know of any pitch samples floating around on the www that may be of use please let me know.
I've never found it easy to write about my own work - and I've never pitched to anyone except to class mates in university. So I'm not the best to take advice from. What I would do if I were you? Watch TED. Some of the best speakers in the world end up on there, and for me they add a little of everything - a dash of humour, plenty of serious buisness and amazing things. Your pitch is a presentation I spose, without powerpoint. So you need to know what you are going to do off by heart. Practice to your friends. Hell, maybe practice to your friends in a pub or cafe - stand up and pitch. That would be good practice for the unfamiliar. Lastly, something Sean Plott once said. Tell everyone you are good at public speaking. Tell yourself you are good at public speaking. If you tell yourself enough you can believe it - and really that's all this takes. It's not a test of skill really, or brains, it's a test of your ability to be confident. So make yourself confident. Hope this helped.
