It would depend on who the reader is covering for. Independent readers don't have much sway with managers, agents, producers, studios or talent. If the reader hired by the producer, studio or agent gave a consider or recommend.... It also depends on the contest. Winning or placing well in Nicholls Fellowship is desirable to managers, agents, producers, studios and talent.
