NM FILM WEEK JULY 22, 2015 There are great things happening all over the state for New Mexico film. I’ll tell you about a few of them today, but be sure to share your film industry news with us about what’s going on in Taos, Farmington, Silver City or wherever you live in New Mexico. 100 MILES TO LORDSBURG The short film 100 Miles to Lordsburg, written and produced by Brad Littlefield of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and directed by Karen Borger, has been accepted to screen at the upcoming Plaza Classic Film Festival in El Paso, Texas on Friday, August 14th at 7:30pm for their debut screening. For more information about the Plaza Classic Film Festival please visit their website. The short film 100 Miles to Lordsburg has been submitted to several other festivals as well. The film is based on a couple traveling to Lordsburg using the Green Book. From the 1930s through the 1960s, African American travelers drove across the country at high risk of violence, racism and segregation. To help them travel safely, The Green Book travel guide listed lodgings, restaurants and other businesses that welcomed black patrons. If somebody you know has experienced traveling using the Green Book, The Green Book Project would like to hear these stories. Visit their website for more information and make a tax deductible contribution to further develop the full length, feature film version.
