Mind of obsession deleted scene - blue orca digital | Alan Taylor

Deleted scene from the film I made called Mind of Obsession, a scene I wanted to include but during filming on location no sound was recorded! It should have made it into the film. Video Shot on Panasonic DV100 SD 16:9 Anamorphic Mind of Obsession has been my most ambitious short film project to date, filmed in Spring and Summer, 2008. It is a spoof running 30 minutes which I produced for my HNC Graded Unit on the Jewel & Esk College Film & Television production course, now known as Edinburgh College. I got the idea for making this after watching the original classic film online; an Ealing Film called 'Kind Hearts and Coronets'. A moment of inspiration led to months of hard work by myself along with a dedicated team of cast and crew to produce this final production which I think demonstrates talent in the making. I look back on this production as a great learning experience as it taught me how to collaborate with others to create a short film as a team going through the whole process from start to finish. I've not been involved with anything as complicated as this project since so it's been a valuable experience near the forefront of my mind in terms of being a unique experience to use when working on future projects. The spoofs location filming made use of some impressive sights around Edinburgh which included the beautiful setting of the village of Duddingston where the Church scenes were recorded at Duddingston Kirk. We were really lucky to film here for free thanks to the kind gesture made by the Minister, James Jack who remains active there today. I remember on one of the shooting days, we had a large picnic lunch prepared by James which everyone really appreciated. We also recorded some scenes for the film in the Secret Garden also known to local residents as Edinburgh's Secret Garden, a maze of well kept flowers overlooking a nature reserve on the Loch underneath Arthur's Seat. This provided the perfect backdrop for shooting some of the film scenes. The other notable location used here was the Ministers house which again was kindly made available for filming in. This house was perfect for what I was looking for, what better location to set a Ministers house than a real minister's house himself. Of course, I was unsure if the time period was at all accurate but I think I was more engrossed in making the film at that time. The deeds of the Minister never end as he offered to play the acting role of the minister character himself and I feel it turned out to be one of the best performance from the film despite him not having had any previous experience of acting. Other locations we filmed at included the interior and exterior of the Edinburgh Cine and Video Society at Fettes Row in the New Town of Edinburgh. It's the oldest amateur movie club in Scotland and it's worth popping down on a Thursday or Friday evening to see what they're working on down there. We filmed the kitchen scenes with Mama there and some other comical moments. I dislike the brightness of the interior shots created for this segment of the film because it seems out of place and context with the old fashioned feel I was going for. My mistake though!
