This is a group dedicated to helping each of it's members do better. While we are not exclusively for the entertainment business, we have thousands of members worldwide who are members because Mark E. Sackett our founder is a Designer, Director, Producer and Art Director for Film, Music, Television and Advertising. We beleive that by helping others we grow powerful and sustainable relationships. Mark knows that we work with those we know, like and trust, yet this business is about long casting lines, sending endless headshots and using our fingers crossed mentality to connect for an opportunity. But having powerful relationships is so much more critical to success.
We do these events monthly in New York, San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Los Angeles, Orange County, 4 to 6 times a year in Vancouver, Kansas City and select other cities as we are invited.

THURSDAY JULY 23RD IN KANSAS CITY IS GOING TO BE A SPECIAL EVENT, TO HONOR GRETCHEN E. SACKETT! Since Gretchen and I met in Kansas City, THE ART OF ACTIVE NETWORKING will go on this Thursday night in Kansas City at Berg Event Space at 6:30pm! Many of you now know that my ex-wife and business partner Gretchen Elaine Sackett passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning here in San Francisco. We were together one way or another for an amazing ride of 36 years! I am reeling as is our families and friends, but after two solid days of thought about what to do and how to move forward I am doing this. I need to find my own private time to grieve, but I know Gretchen would want us to all move forward. As you may also know, “The Art of Active Networking” was started because I want to collaborate and help others to do better and after 6 years now and 15 cities 12,000 people have attended. Giving and kindness to each other was always the most important thing in Gretchen’s life. She helped family, strangers, friends, the homeless, and her myriad of causes from Veteran’s to Animals. Gretchen once said that instead of gifts at Christmas, Holiday’s, Birthdays and Occasions that she wished people would just give money to help charity, especially to help animals that don’t have a voice of her own, namely in their local animal shelters. So rather than grieve here under my covers and at my desk everyday, I am going to make every event for “The Art of Active Networking” a living, giving memorial to Gretchen. And at every event we will try to collect a little more money for her and her love of all animals. Instead of a normal memorial service this Kansas City event will be the first of those. So please invite your friends, colleagues and anyone you know to attend. And if you knew Gretchen and want to come and celebrate the kindest and most giving person I have ever known, please do! (We will NOT be doing an official memorial for Gretchen, this is it because she would have hated being the center of attention!) Here is the ticket link for the event, and until I can scramble to figure out a donation system, you can buy as many tickets as you want and either pay it forward and invite someone you like or want to help or just buy 10 or 20 tickets or more and I will know that anyone who does NOT attend meant their ticket or the extra's as a donation and I will deal with getting those to her charities ASAP, I promise! THIS THURSDAY NIGHT IN KANSAS CITY YOU GET TO GIVE TO OTHERS AND CELEBRATE A BEAUTIFUL SOUL! When we are giving with the goal to help others it all comes back to us full circle! Gretchen Sackett my ex-wife and business partner of 36 years passed away suddenly on Thursday morning! I mention this for two reasons, Gretchen taught me about “GIVING” and she inspired me to create “The Art of Active Networking”. When I started it 6 years and now 12,000 attendees ago, I had nothing more than a simple thought in mind, “I own a venue, no one rents the venue on our slowest night, let’s invite them over and see if we can help them in some way!” Well, we did, and they came back week after week, month after month and now year after year. And together we have help 1000’s find answers to their struggles. So this Thursday night I decided to go on with the show as it were. Gretchen would have wanted it, she would want me home in Kansas City this week to also see my family and be with them, to go ahead and attend my 40th High School reunion, and she would want all of us to keep moving forward with kindness. Will Thursday night be hard? OH GOD YES! But will we gather to help each other and to create and continue the traditions of helping each other as Gretchen would want? YES! We are also suggesting in lieu of cards, flowers and all the traditional and mournful ways of reaching out that you do what she would do, donate to her favorite animal charity Love Every Animal! We donated and designed the logo, we’ve thrown a benefit in San Francisco for them and we got all of our cats from through them. Gretchen so loved what this tiny and underfunded charity does, founded by a Woman named Lyza Chavez as they rescue our beautiful creatures day in and day out!
