Synopsis of Camp Shadywood: From the first few scenes, several things become apparent about Darlene and Matthew; she is a heavy drinker, he has some serious anger management issues, they both have some kind of a criminal past, and their relationship is codependent and includes some very kinky sex. When they move to Camp Shadywood, a new temporary car camp for the homeless, they are unknowingly re-joining some others who know something of their criminal past and refer to them as "Bonnie and Clyde." These people wait tensely to see what might unfold with these two very unstable characters in their midst. Sure enough, before long there is a scene in which Matthew displays his potential for violence and his immense difficulty in coping with his anger. This is followed by a crisis for Darlene, in which her alcoholism comes to a head and she has to go to a detox for immediate treatment. When Darlene decides to stay in the halfway house for a while, continue with the program and remain sober, Matthew comes to realize he will also have to do some changing of his own, to adjust to the "'new Darlene." He is greatly worried that their relationsip will not survive these changes, though Darlene keeps reassuring him it will. She shows surprising reservoisrs of strength as she continues with her recovery. He, in turn, is deeply humbled with gratitude as he realizes he has not lost her after all, and emerges a more civilized and likable human being.
