Action! Maui film industry on a roll! State subsidies make Neighbor Island production more lucrative! By BRIAN PERRY - City Editor of The Maui News Currently under new management and with a new name, a film studio in a leased warehouse at the Maui Lani Village Center has lined up at least three film or TV projects starting in early December and running into 2016, Maui County Film Commissioner Tracy Bennett said last week. In this photo, Richard "Sananda" Teston was discovered by a freelance casting director while at Starbucks in Kihei. One year later he found himself sharing major scenes with Hollywood veteran actors in the film Inquisitor shot in part on the island of Maui.
