Documentary production delays

Hey everyone, I've been working on a documentary that's just now starting to take off. I've been on it for over a year and I just got 3 interviews done in the past month. Unfortunately I was supposed to have another one done tomorrow but it got cancelled because the holiday theme would "date" the project. Which is something that I completely understand. However, I am concerned about everyone being okay with the fact that it is taking a long time. I want to make sure all the people I'm talking to feel that they are wanted. I did send them a reassuring message a few days ago, but I'm just curious how do I keep this up?

This is a serious concern for me as well. I have a number of active projects and have had to put some on hold. I have seen enthusiasm fade. My history projects are the toughest in this regard. All I can do is try to keep them informed and let them fade away if that is their choice. One project will probably not "shoot" for over year from today and that is too long for many. The Revolutionary War will only excite a small segment of the population. Just gotta keep building a support network. Tilt at those windmills.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I wasn't thinking about concern about attention and enthusiasm fade for the subject matter. I was thinking more about the people I'm supposed to be interviewing. How to keep them interested.

John Murphy

I totally missed that. Guilty of reading with my own worries.

You are doing it. Communication and a follow up first week of the year to set appointments to proceed. I just had a model fall of the face of the Earth and then she fell out of the sky and blamed it on the holidays. I get it. Some still have high regard for the holidays. Roll with the punches.
