What keeps you guys motivated to crank out pages of your script? I personally enjoy watching a movie as a break. It clears my creative process to focus on the movie. Sometimes I don't finish it and jump back on the keys and write.
I think when you love what you are writing you no longer need motivation. You can't wait to get in front of your computer and start typing. You just have a good time.
D. and Kathryn... but do you still love what you're writing by draft ten? I sure don't. Anyway, my motivation these days is that I have hardly any time to write. It's the most classic screenplay motivation of all: the ticking clock.
Podcasts, films, and books on screenwriting definitely keep me inspired. When all else fails French Hiphop in my favorite local cafe forces me to sit down and focus.
The love of my story keeps me motivated. As I rewrite one now, I am just as motivated on the latest rewrite a I was in developing the concept. If I hit a snag, I do the same as you and clear my mind with something else. Then I get the "Oh shit!" epiphany where the creative flows again. Plus the drive to succeed keeps me motivated to fight the vacuum and not let it suck me down!

I set daily, weekly, and monthly goals. I worship the clock and the calendar, soldier style.

Trying to overcome the self-loathing that sets in if I don't write.

Madonna told me the secret of her success years ago and her advice also goes for writers. She said, "STAY HUNGRY!"
