Should I get my screenplay copyrighted, when trying to sell it to a producer?

I wrote my screenplay and I am going to get reviews on it and listen to their feedback. I plan on posting it on here to see if any producers are interested, but before I do so, I wanted to know if I should get it copyrighted first?

Skyler Chase

I haven't developed a logline yet I will as soon as I finish polishing the script.

Always get your stuff copyrighted before you share it with the public.

That's what I figured

HOWEVER -- Posting on the internet creates a public record of the work associated with you. So in a way making it public helps prove that the work belongs to you in the rate chance that someone tries to steel it and use it as their own.

Skyler, the simple fact that you are the creator does give you copyright; ownership. However, registering with WGA and filing for copyright gives you better legal standing should you ever need to prove copyright. In other words, yes, protect your work. :)

That's what I figured and I will, but I highly doubt anyone here would steal my work.
