Anything Goes : My dogs and I walk, and think about the Oscars by Barbara Chepaitis

A WRITER'S DAY 1) Walk the dogs, who think I'm a little, well, crazy, to be outside today. 2) Consider the Oscars from last night, and the TWO IMPORTANT THINGS I noticed. 3) THING ONE - though I loved, loved, loved Patricia Arquette's speech, I wonder if she or any other Oscar nominees donated their $160,000 swag bags to charity. Hmm. I'd like some numbers on that. 4)THING TWO - ALL the "Best Picture" movies had a man at the center. ALL of them. Not that Hollywood is a boy's club or anything . . . . 5) Wonder if BIRDMAN was written as BIRDWOMAN if it still would have won. Or been nominated. Or sold and produced. 6) Wonder how WHIPLASH would change if it had a girl drummer. 7) Surely there are girl drummers. Surely there are BIRDWOMEN. RIGHT??? 8) Consider getting into the Oscars next year, in order to steal the Swag Bags, and bring them to a Women's Shelter. Or a Soup Kitchen. 9) Consider figuring out what makes ANYONE think Oscar nominees need $160,000 worth of free stuff. 10) Tell dogs I'm not crazy.
