Bad news for writers who stored their work on Scripped.com

http://www.scripped.com/ - Looks like they lost everything! This is why I really want to buy Final Draft soon. Celtx is now cloud-based and this worries me!

Anthony Cawood

Ouch!

Kerry Douglas Dye

Wow. Never heard of scripped, but... holy moley. Good lesson there in be careful who you trust!

Anthony Cawood

I have desktop and iPad, sync to Dropbox so that I'm always working on current version of a script. Backup for me is hardrive and Dropbox.

Stacy Gentile

Holy Hell.

John, fortunately I am not a Scripped user. I do save my Celtx work on USB drives and I email my works in progress to myself. I sure hope Scripped users had back-up. Another issue I worry about is sites like that getting hacked.

Kerry Douglas Dye

Fascinated by this like a train wreck. Here are some more details: http://www.bdcwire.com/scripped-shuts-down/

Looks like the service was owned by ScreenCraft. Once again they're getting the 3rd degree on Twitter by Franklin Leonard and Craig Mazin. Drama!

So much for the belief that something that lives on the internet lives forever. Seriously though: people write and then save to a cloud - not to a C drive, USB or even print drafts to work through them on paper? And there's me who likes to save every draft as a pdf just in case my FD or computer dies, so that I can still see the text regardless of what may transpire.

Kerry Douglas Dye

Yeah, feel a combination of deep sympathy for anyone who lost work, and surprise that they could find theirself in that position.

Craig D Griffiths

If you are using Celtx (as I do) buy the script app for your phone or tablet. You can sync between them. Means you can write anywhere and it is a local backup.

Byron Griffin

Movie Magic is an excellent tool, worth considering
