Location: Abandoned House in the UK

Hi All! New to Stage32 here, and a new writer. I have written a short 10 minute film and have a crew together to shoot it. The only thing we are missing is the location. It's set in an isolated, abandoned house. Does anyone have any ideas how to got about finding locations? On a zero budget :)

D Marcus

On a zero budget YOU must do the job of "location scout". Meaning you must do the leg work - driving around looking for the right location. That's how location scouts go about finding locations.

Steve Ceaton

Thanks for reply D Marcus.. yeah that's what I'm doing.. it's a hard job to do.

Find out if there are any property auction houses you can contact, they would usually have properties that are not lived in and can be dilapidated, also estate agents might have something.

D Marcus

It sure is a hard job. That's why good locations scouts charge what they charge. On a zero budget you have to do the hard jobs. Good luck!

Steve Ceaton

Thanks.. I tried a number of estate agents and they haven't been helpful at all.. I'll look into Auctions, thanks Rosalind.

Yeah i've contacted one and offered £100, waiting to hear back from them. The council offered me one for free but it wasn't really suitable.
