I want to make a 5-10 minute film from one of my books and could use some input. I have a very limited budget so what is the best, but least expensive camera to use. the purpose is to enter a couple of contests and to promote my work. I have no intentions of being a film maker, I will that to the experts. If you check my bio you can see some of the short videos I have already made. also if any of you in the Orange County, LA County want to get a credit and come help that would be ok too. It involves horses and cowboys. So thanks in advance for the input.
never thought of it that way but it certainly works for me. so anyone out there, here ya go. give me a shout out.

Do you have a script ready? If so, can I read it?

sorry to be so long in getting to you. been away from computer. the answer is yes to both. if you look at my bio you will see the screen play. Now please remember, I have never written one so it is very, very crude but it was a start. I start casting this weekend. I HOPE> so let me know what you have in mind.
Sounds good. I will take a look in a little bit and get back to you.

Let’s see if I understand; you have a Western book and a short script and you want a short promo to circulate in the festival world. You don’t want to be a filmmaker, so what camera should buy? None. I’m a producer in the short film, low/no budget arena. I’d be interested in seeing the story synopsis and your short script – if the script is rough, that’s okay (I can whip it into shape.) Horses mean exterior shots – I have some, but limited access, to horses. My fee: I work for beer.
Doug the script is on bio page. take a look. I start casting this Saturday. I have the location and a stable full of horses.
Gary - you're already casting and going ahead with your project and there's no way I can travel to Southern California right now. I can only wish you the best.
My advise is if you don't have the resources to do what you really want to do, don't do it! Cutting corners will kill your artistic vision and you will not favor the results. Think at least 1000.00 a minute for a completed Indie Film at the bare basics. Think 10k a minute to turn your adapted screenplay from Novel into a reality!

People tell me what I can’t do almost every day (at least not without their help) to which my response is: Maybe I can, maybe I can’t but please step aside while I give it a go. I learn a lot from my bloopers. I admire Gary for having the moxie to try it.
My 7th grade English teacher told me I wrote "crap" that I would never be a writer, etc., (nothing against teachers at all they work awfully hard for little reward). but opps guess she was wrong. just signed another contract with CCP. now 7 contracts in 2 years. Take that. so what does that have to do with movie making, well

Congrats Gary. So what does that have to do with moviemaking? Lots. It tells me that you have the perseverance needed to get it done. Go for it – succeed or fail matters not, it’s the going for it that counts. Best wishes on your endeavor.
