Right now, those with plans to enter the film and entertainment business from a place of near-total obscurity and few, if any resources, have two basic options: 1.) Scrounge for up to $200,000 or more for what is still considered a low or ultra-low budget feature film with no big stars or effects and only basic production values, then gamble by entering dime-a-dozen festivals and competitions that studios routinely ignore despite ever-increasing entry fees, the most legitimate of which is probably still a way to make money while finding low-risk sources of material for agents and production companies which are not much better off or more legitimate than those whose money they take and whose work they judge. OR 2.) Spend less than half or a third of that money on a still professionally production like SUNDAYS, a $51,000 proof-of-concept short recently scooped up for development by Warner Brothers, KNOWING that it will be seen and monetized on sites like YouTube - where SUNDAYS and writer/director Fede Alvarez of 2013's EVIL DEAD remake were discovered - and make at least a little bit of money while helping to lay the foundations of a professional reputation for yourself far more valuable to would-be employers and major studios. With my LLC, Woodlane Enterprises, and my short film and web series pilot as the first two examples, I wish to start building a custom brand of online entertainment meant to support, promote and perpetuate higher quality productions by otherwise new, yet talented film-makers in a given region - helping them establish those professional reputations by strategically combining and putting behind them and their work the Web's myriad of cost-effective resources for everything from development to distribution, marketing, and even merchandising. Please help set this important example which could make a serious difference for new, yet unconnected film-making talent in any region by donating to the first two productions to be part of the custom, example-setting, online brand Woodlane Intertainment.
