Hi everyone, I started composing film music a few years back and I've recently had the opportunity to work on small projects, for which I'm grateful. Given the fact that I am based in Belgium, most of my communication happens through the Internet and I often don't get to personally meet the person I'm going to work with (aside from Skype or other such means of communication). Now the question is, when collaborating with someone who lives far off, how can you make sure you'll get paid after you deliver your work? I wondered if there were any online platforms that would organize the transfer of each part's duties (like a site that would make the money available to me only once the person I'm working with has certified he or she entered in possession of my music and vice versa). I know most people out there are honest and such transactions usually happen without hardships, but when I'm working on a one time project with someone I don't know, I always get a bit nervous when awaiting payment.. Thanks in advance for your answers
Several contracts require payment in installments. For example, 50% at commencement of services, and 50% upon final delivery.
