Introduce Yourself : Mark J. Blackman - Writer / Director by Mark J. Blackman

Hi all - hope you're having a top weekend! I'm a Writer / Director based in London who's in pre-production on my new (and penultimate) short film, NEON, shooting in February with a name cast and wonderful crew. After that, it's one last short that I've been sponsored to direct and then my producer and I are gearing up for our first slate of three features. Prior to all this, I've Written and Directed half a dozen short films that have screened and sold at the likes of Cannes and picked up awards at the likes of The New York Film & TV Awards. I also direct music videos and was nominated at this year's UKMVA's and have had works nominated and screened internationally at film festivals and been broadcast on MTV. These are usually narrative-driven pieces and short films in their own right. I am co-director of a successful production company specialising in high-end corporate content for clients in the healthcare, education and security sectors and also direct corporate and documentary content for numerous other agencies too, both in the U.K and abroad. This has seen me direct productions in Tokyo, Seoul, Nepal, India, New Zealand, and all over Europe, the Middle East and the U.S and I've picked up a few awards for this too: for content, directing and cinematography (I sometimes self-shoot). I'm also a keen photographer and have had works exhibited internationally and am represented for commercials by Luma London. As a filmmaker, I am a legitimately passionate and experienced director with a keen eye, a genuine passion for working with actors and as obsessed with nailing narratives and emotions as I am with nailing moods, tones and textures. Simply put, I love what I do. As my producer and I gear up for NEON and beyond, we're always looking for top talent to collaborate with, be it on our projects or theirs --- so don't be a stranger!
