Getting to know the professional way for a foreign actor to work in Hollywood (L.A.)

Hello everyone, I'm a Mexican actor living now in Mexico City. I'm part of the cast of The Lion King (Broadway's Musical) here in Mexico City. I have professional experience on TV, films and Theater here in my country. I want to try luck in Los Angeles. And I'm planning to go to LA soon. I've been reading info about how things work out there in LA for an actor, and above all for a foreign actor, which is my case. Any help such as advise or information you can give me would be very appreciated. I know I must have an agent and/or manager who represents me there in USA. And there's where I want to start with... to have enough contacts of agencies of acting representation so I can have appointments with them, plan my trip to LA. and have interviews to see who could represent me. That's so far what I've been thinking of. Am I in the right way? I'm used to do all these things the way we do it here in Mexico but not really sure about how things work in America with the Union and all those things. Now I want to see if I can get any help from you and thank you in advance for reading this message.

I don't know how well-known you are in Mexico. Do you have plans to move to LA? Since you're only visiting LA, you may have trouble setting meetings in LA because the agents/managers will probably not be able to find you work in the US when you're living in Mexico City. That's because the studios would rather hire a local actor who can work as a "local hire," instead of paying to fly you in from Mexico City for jobs. Flying you in and paying for your hotel and per diem is most likely an unnecessary expense. That said, if you are well-known in Mexico and have a strong list of credits, then you might be worth the extra costs.

I'm well known above all in the theater world, not the "big star" on TV yet, though. I have thought about what you said. However, I would like to be in the list of some agency
