Talking about locations in the movie industry, I understand it's something more of minimizing the budget set to shoot and get the movie produced. Not only that, I also realized number of characters and props too, play a part in shooting a movie under low budget. Now on the writer, if for instance I write a script and there's just two locations in the story but in two different countries, would that mean the script could be shot under low budget? Considering that there are as fewer characters as can match a movie shot under low budget.
What if most of the scenes are interior scenes? A very few exterior scenes such as can portray landscape or a town/city view... Would that too cost much?

Remember though that unless a writer has an extensive experience in production, it can be very difficult - and sometimes surprising - to appreciate what is expensive and what is not. It will be more expensive to shoot in a city apartment than a large house in the countryside just because of the logistics (lodging, food and parking for instance). Likewise, shooting abroad is not mandatorily expensive since you'd only ship a few people and rely on local talent - who can be very cheap yet qualified. My advice is that you wait for production meetings to rewrite your script. Always go with the flow of your inspiration and change only if the production certifies that they are going over budget.

And if you're only shooting interiors then it can be cheated. A good interior decoration can go a long way, particularly with the details (door handles, AC plugs, etc...).
Thanks Frédéric, that's best I suppose.
It all depends if the location used seems real. A couple of years back mates of mine did a short supposedly "Morocco". It was actually Freshfied sands Merseyside.
And they really didn't have to go down to Morocco to shoot certain scenes right?
In the digital matte' age all is possible. Then again budget dictates realism of true location. Another example of where audience isn't stupid... Danm it.
Hahah Michael, why would they be stupid? If one has to spend a whole lot of money moving a cast or flying them to a specific country, I think if they evaluate how much it would cost to make a present location look just as that of the foreign country, it might just cut the cost and will now depend on how the director presents the whole work.
Dan, I intended doing this myself, sorry I didn't respond earlier than now my brother. But I'm seeing that it might need some investment or sponsorship... I might miss the right term and quite unfamously, I'm trying to call on to my brothers down here - Africa but they are... Way, way asleep... :) Maybe they'll wake up when I'm done doing this but yeah, that's what's up.
@Conrad. Was only a short , off course coastal sand is much darker Morocco to UK Freshfield/Ainsdale sands, but was filmed in a way audience suspended their disbelief. There are many ways to exaggerate budget locations, eg drive a car past a mansion with permission to film the couple of seconds, then shoot the scenes in the so called interior, but could be anywhere. Cheers!
