What brings you the success is a question of what kind of person you are. If you are better in talking than writing then use the verbal, if you think you can pitch your script more to the point in a written form use this.
I agree to Stephen. The more confident you get the easier it will be. Confidence comes with what you have and also comes when you finally pitched a few times. One day you simply have to pitch personally. A few months ago I read about a fellow screenwriter who booked a few pitches at a pitch session weekend here with HappyWriters. He said the first pitch was terrible but he became cooler and better with every pitch. He booked 5 and was from Europe so he had a very exciting and sleepless night.
I ALWAYS try to get myself in the room. I'm a good writer and have gotten really good with pitches and log lines and such, but I've had much more success face to face.
Verbal. You get to show your personality and answer their questions.

I agree with Elisabeth. She hit it on the nose.
Thanks for the tip. I am definitely better at writing than talking!

Elizabeth always has a way of being direct. I value her insights. I have known her here on Stage 32 for about a year.

Toby, I believe it's all about state -- If you're confident with what you have, it doesn't matter what vehicle you use to deliver the goods.
