Introduce Yourself : My name is Sai. by Sai Natarajan

I'm still at high school, but I'm looking for opportunities to break into the film industry as a music composer. I've been playing the piano for over ten years now, and also picked up the violin about four years ago. I also started composing around that time.

I naturally attempt to take every opportunity that comes my way - in fact, I'm currently scoring a piece of music to be played by my local youth orchestra, with explicit instructions not to rely on virtual instrument software to check how my composition sounds. That will be my first time having my music played live, and I will do everything I can to make it happen.

I haven't got much in the way of composing equipment, but I'm actively saving up to upgrade everything (right now, I've got a much better computer on the way). I compose and experiment with music in my spare time, trying to up-skill myself wherever possible. I feel that I am gradually getting to a point where I'm able to clearly express myself through music.

However, I don't have much experience actually scoring music to picture, apart from writing the score for my high school's entries to the 48 Hour Filmmaking Contest here in New Zealand. That's why I'm here. I'm looking for people who would give me the chance to write something awesome for their project. My number one goal is to build a solid portfolio of projects by the end of this year, while developing the skills needed to conjure emotion through music as part of a scene.

If it's one thing I don't like being told, it's that I'm too young to start looking for film work. That I should focus on finishing school, and then come back here once I'm done. That won't quite throw me off, I'm afraid.

More than anything, I want to help realise your creative vision as a filmmaker, and I want to take the audience through an incredible experience.
