Screenwriting : Contests by Ramon Olivo

Contests

Any advice of really good contests outside of the big ones?

Jody Ellis

Depends on what you're looking for. I always scout out the ones with free feedback, even if they don't offer any kind of cash prize. That being said, I also try to avoid the ones that don't give any more to winners than a mention on their website.

Nashville is a good smaller one. I also like all the Screencraft contests but they aren't so small anymore. And there are contests here through Happy Writers. If you look on filmfreeway there are tons of contests, big and small.

Ramon Olivo

I'll look into Nashville. Thanks!

Dan MaxXx

Do the freebies: CBS, NBC, Disney, Warner. Gotta move to Los Angeles if you get accepted.

Ramon Olivo

Good idea. I'll look into those as well

Craig D Griffiths

I would do things that offer notes or judges feedback. At least you get something for the entry fee. Don't know enough to offer much more.

Dene Stark

Filmfreeway.com. Look for the ones endorsed by IMDB or other reputable writing sites, also read reviews of the festivals.

The best advice - Save the money and keep it under your mattress. Good advice - spend it on your family. Advice - go to Las Vegas or buy the lottery. If you're crazy and feel lucky at the same time go into your own production. At least you will have something to show your friends and family and to remember. it's always better than looking at the notes or judges feedbacks. Your call.

I suggest you try three contests, the largest, Nicholl, one of the screenwriting program contests, and a small local contest that has fewer than 100 entries.

Vitaly Kozlov

Nicholls or Pickles...You'll get exactly something for your money. Make sure that paper is soft.

Vitaly Kozlov

100 persent correct, Stanley. I wonder what is a range of your financing ability. Can you assist with 500-1 mill feature? I am looking for 100 percent straight equity piece. PM me if you can.

Bill Costantini

Just a reminder....Nicholl deadline is May 1, and Page is May 17. Good luck, everybody!

Vitaly Kozlov

One of my good contacts two times winner of Nicholls still sitting and looking at his awards. 7 years passed nothing was produced. But deadline is May 1 and May 17 everybody.

Dan MaxXx

Lol $150mil production and you're here soliciting.

Vitaly Kozlov

Stanley, you realize where you are? This is a bottom floor for flying and crowling. People can't finance their own shorts here and you are asking them for bridge money? And you are asking here for distribution? Oh, boy.

Beth Fox Heisinger

Hey Stanley, soliciting within forums and threads is not appreciated, and may be deleted. The Lounge craft and business forums are for topic discussion. Thanks.
