I was just wanting to know, if I wanted to sell a script/screenplay how would I do it? I'm working on something that in the future I might be willing to sell. So I'm just look for advice.
You can draw attention to your script by entering it into a screenplay contest. They give monetary rewards to the winners and sometimes even give it to producers looking for material. Another option is to make an account with someone like Amazon or the Black List and upload your script there. Just look into options like that.
That's the million dollar question, Laken. So many winding roads there. I'd recommend reading a lot of the posts on here and getting involved with other screenwriting sites and not getting turned off by all the negative experiences. It's a process. Don't get dismayed by it - but rather thrive on it! Get some feedback and make as many connections with supporting industry people as you can. Other writers, producers, and production peeps will help guide you. Selling a screenplay can be a long and difficult journey. Your first step was a good one - post the question. Now make some connections and keep talking about your project. Never give up.
Laken, before the idea of selling enters your mind, finish the script, get feedback, revise and rewrite. Worrying about selling a script you haven't finished yet is a bit of putting the cart before the horse.
The hardest lesson to learn is once you're writing better and you finish the script. Even if it looks good or perfect, you have to rewrite it. That process almost broke me and made me quit. I wanted so badly to be finish but I learned better writing means rewriting. Just keep in mind that trying to sell too soon, may contribute to a reputation that you are a horrible writer. Once that is associated with your name, even your best script may go unread.
@ Laken Gage - Put together a writers group in Mineral Wells, Texas. Read each other's drafts, encourage each other, and trade tips. Build your own support network. Good luck.
Keep budget microscopic, keep genre clear. Psychological horror and mumblecore are your friends. This will increase your pool of potential investors and it may even be that you can produce it yourself. Paranormal Activity is a good case study.

Why would you write something if you WASN'T willing to sell it?
Isn't that the point?
You might be writing a script so you can make the film yourself, Dougie. Maybe you just enjoy the process and it helps you relax.
