I'm finishing writing a musical and was hoping to hear back from some writers who have sold scripts. What have been some of the more successful avenues you have used?
Ive been unsuccessfully using social platforms to showcase my work for years and now. I begrudgingly am ready to try something else.

1) develop relationships with people. 2) enter contests. 3) make some short films to build your reputation. 4) help starting out filmmakers to become lifetime collaborators 5) services like InkTip. And realise everyone's journey different. There is no right path.

invest in yourself and go make your own film, hookup with filmmaker-partners who share your enthusiam/drive. Get that 1st feature film under your belt. somehow, someway, credit card it, sell your blood, car. Sacrifices.
I couldn't sell any of my B-movie scripts, got close but wasted years talking and talking until finally I said, "fudge it. I'll make it myself". And it was a scary situation, terms of Time and financial risks. I hooked up with friends/filmmakers,; we wrote a movie with what we had and could afford to do; used our own money, and then something incredibly weird happened; Industry folks started taking me seriously; got meetings at big talent agencies; casting directors;, we even had a technical advisor, a ASC cinematographer helped us (He shot The Jazz Singer - Neil Diamond movie). 3 years from concept idea to finished film. Sold the movie globally at American Film Market. So shut off social media, get off computers and meet filmmakers who do this for a living.
