Crossing Over Documentary to Motion Picture

Hi, I produced a documentary on a friend of mine who came out of the human trafficking industry. She has a gripping and emotional story that I believe would connect with a wide audience as well as raise awareness about the epidemic of human trafficking as a whole. The link to the documentary is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpWfuJfjtak I have also written a movie script based on her life that I currently have on inktip.com to view. What I need is a production company to come along side of me to help produce this. I believe this could be done on a manageable budget and still be high quality. I would also love to donate some of the proceeds from the films to human trafficking organizations like exoduscry.org and compassiontoact.org If anyone is interested in learning more or how they could help make this God-given vision of mine a reality-let me know:) Thx!! Blessings

Michelle, without viewing the clip (I’m in a weird cell area) I would suggest you research and reach out to 30-50 different organizations that combat human trafficking. i.e. Allsaints, Purpose, NPO’s, and try and get them excited. Could build you some momentum so then a production company or investor might be more inclined to participate and help. Just a thought!

Hi Ryan, thanks for the input. It may be worth a shot to do that. I've contacted a few human trafficking organizations and they have been positive but are already doing their own or have their own films going. Thx again!:)

Sounds like a perfect project for crowdfunding with lots of universal appeal. If I were you I'd contact a wide spectrum of NGOs, ask if they would be willing to share email lists and perhaps serve on your board of advisors. Using clips from your own documentary and/or from recent films such as Caged No More or Priceless would also have a powerful impact. Check out the John Trigonis webinar on S32 as well as RB's new book on crowd sourcing.

Hey Erik, thx for the advice. I’ll have to check out the webinar. Where do I find the crowd sourcing book?

Erik A. Jacobson

It's on Amazon.

Thanks Erik
