Hey peeps, Just sharing my beat board struggles. Actually the beat board is the saving grace of my problems. I had an idea which became a fully fleshed out outline, but once I started writing things got more detailed and my original idea made less sense. The lines didn’t all connect. I felt strongly about my concept, but less confident about my sequence of events that would occur. So I’m sharing my first beat sheet that is helping me layout the scenes. (Watching movies or reading scripts that are a similar genre also help.) Writing is a passion and I’m trying to stay focused (not jump to a different script), so I think it’s exciting and incredibly helpful to sit back and figure out alternative methods of working a script. That is all. Hope you’re doing great in your projects!

That's actually a good thing. Ask yourself: were you surprised by where the story took you? If you were surprised, odds are the audience will be surprised too. Stop watching the mile markers and see where the journey takes you. You might be pleasantly surprised.
