Hey Theresa, in my opinion it's very difficult to give a meaningful quote without getting a better understanding of the project. I personally like to talk to filmmaker and try to understand who is making it, what you're making and why you're making it. With that being said generally speaking my priciing would be more by movie minute. In an ideal world that would be somewhere between $50 and $100/min. For example a 5 minute movie at $100/min would be $500. I'm flexible though and try to work with your budget. That price is assuming I am composing, producing, mixing and mastering the whole score in my studio using primarily electronic instruments and sample libraries. Live musicians, studio time for an orchestra and any other costs associated to anything beyond me and my composing studio would be additional. Thanks Michael that's exactly the link i found after asking the (possibly) rhetorical question... Appreciate your taking the time. I found out there are no less than 48 Music industry contracts and it is no wonder, i have found it to be very complicated. Especially when adding live music and a touring necessity to the contract. oyvay. Came up with a music production/management format that fits my needs for integrating my own music recording career with my film production scoring and sync licensing. and that was my weekend folks.
