Anything Goes : Hollywood Award Ceremonies by Anthony James Rummel

Hollywood Award Ceremonies

I refused to watch the Golden Globes last night because I am tired of the Hollywood award ceremonies being used as a platform for political speeches and rants, and for shaming anyone who even remotely disagrees. That's also why I will not watch the Oscars this year either.

There was a grand time when this wasn't the case and this beautiful photo is proof of it! Barbra Streisand plants a kiss on the Duke's cheek after presenting him his Academy Award for Best Actor in 1969 - a period when culture was changing, but two people with strongly opposing political views such as them could still be civil and respect each other, and people from all over the political spectrum could be honored and awarded without discrimination! That was Hollywood's true Golden Age!

I shared this photo on a classic movie fan site and the overwhelming amount of likes it received proved I'm far from the only one who longs for the return of this era of respect.
