Los Angeles Philharmonic presents an Astronaut celebration at the HOLLYWOOD BOWL - Thursday, August 15 at 8 PM
This one-night-only event celebrates the achievements of American space travel and features film clips with live orchestra, archival footage, a special guest speaker from JPL, and a tribute to NASA's women astronauts. Conductor David Newman leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in awe-inspiring scenes from films about astronauts such as First Man, Gravity, Apollo 13, Hidden Figures and The Martian. The concert will also feature music by Gustav Holst (The Planets) and Michael Giacchino (Advent - the West Coast Premiere of his commission to commemorate the Apollo 11 landing.) The concert is co-produced by Hollywood woman composer Penka Kouneva
