Introduce Yourself : Chickens, Mules and Two Old Fools by Victoria Twead

Victoria Twead

Chickens, Mules and Two Old Fools

Hi! I'm a British author happily churning out books and helping new authors publish theirs. My Old Fools series about our life in a tiny Spanish mountain village hit the New York Times bestseller list three times. (Think "My Family and Other Animals" meets "Driving Over Lemons".) I dream that my Old Fools books get snapped up by a TV series fairy one day.

Joanne Butcher

Welcome, Victoria. Maybe you don't have to just dream. Maybe there are some actions you can take to get those books in front of producers? Maybe find a book about getting your work on screen.....??? Joanne

Victoria Twead

Yes, you are quite right, Joanne, thank you. I know a lot about writing bestselling books in my genre, but nothing about how to get them in front of producers. Can you recommend some reading matter for me, by any chance?

Hey Victoria Twead and Joanne Butcher Nice to meet both of you!

I am also an author and have the same goal! If you're trying to do a book-to-screen adaptation and are trying to figure more of what the process looks like, Stage 32 has a really great opportunity where you can connect with executives over a phone call and get feedback and direction on how and where to take the next steps of your story in making that vision a reality. I just had a phone call with an exec last week about a fantasy, action/adventure comic I published and got some amazing and invaluable information about the industry and how best to navigate it to be successful with this process. I am super excited on my next steps!

If you haven't already I would recommend checking out some of the available webinars on the Stage 32. There's a few that may be helpful but the one that sticks out to me the most based on the topic you're asking about is this one: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/Book-to-Screen-Taking-Your-Book-or-Scre...

If you’d like some guidance on who might be the best person to connect with, feel free to reach out to Stage 32's Director of Script Services, Jason Mirch at j.mirch@stage32.com can point you in the right direction.
