Filmmaking / Directing : On line portfolios? by Bill Albert

On line portfolios?

Do you have your own site with links to your work? Just looking into setting one up and wondering if you have any suggestions about what works and what doesn't.

Hi Bill. There are a lot of places where you can make a great site with little effort. If you have some web building skill you can pretty much call your own shots. Our website is a Wordpress site where we host our Podcast and Blog. We purchased an adaptable style template to overlay and heavily customize the appearance. Comes down to what you like visually. Our site is www.lordsofmisruleproductions.com

I literally hate doing this, lol. I just direct people to my IMDB or my social media pages. I may actually just start using my stage 32 profile...

Hi Bill, yes my wife Pamela & I do have our own acting websites as well as a website for our production company Four Scorpio Productions. I designed them using WordPress, it was a little bit of work but I like customizing them. I originally set these domains up back in 2004, so we've had them for a while now.

Nowadays, there are services out there like Wix that make it so much easier. I find that having these sites is still worth it as it increases your web footprint when folks Google you. We can also drive traffic to our YouTube channel.

I'd say don't try to do too much all at once -- it's too easy to get overwhelmed. Just build your presence one step at a time.

Yes. Do it. It's an easy reference for anyone interested in your work. Make sure it has your reels AND resume (contact info should be at least your email, maybe phone or answering service) Keep it simple so you can update easily. ...I've learned the hard way.
