First an actor had the urge to continue honing his craft during this closure. Then he decided to act upon it and posted a request on Stage 32 a couple of weeks ago for a screenplay. Then a screenwriter had a screenplay screaming to be read. Ta Da! The two connected and set up a professional Table Read.
And that’s how it’s done… we got together to do a virtual read last night with 7 actors and me the screenwriter. I’m telling you screenwriters this is the way to go. It was amazing to hear and see my story come to life. They even went to the trouble to practice accents… Jamaican, Bahamian, Costa Rican, Italian. Thanks again Ken Moretti for suggesting this.
We had our technical difficulties. One actor’s computer crashed and I had to take over the reading of the action and the remaining actors chipped in to read his parts. All in all, it was fantastic, and I’ll be doing it again with my other screenplay, The Legend of the Toymaker.
Until then, Thanks Team Piratessa!
