Hi there,
Hope you all are well. Sending positive vibes during these times.
I am adapting a novel into a screenplay. I have had a few video meetings with the author of the book about quotation and credits etc. We agreed on my upfront fees and back end fees as well.
Now, I have a question about a contract.
I am asked to make a contract and MOU and email her so, she can go thru.
If we both agree and sign electronically, would that be fine?
What I am trying to understand- Is email and all form of electronic communication is valid as a contract without a lawyer in middle? Hope we never get into dispute since there is a good rapport. But I wanted to make sure.
Also, please suggest what I should not miss writing in the contract.
She is the author of a novel. and I am the screenwriter who will be adapting the novel.
I appreciate your thoughts on this pressing matter.
Thanks in advance for all your time.
Best. K
