Anyone been to/had success with, the 'Children's Media Conference' in the UK?

Hi everyone, my name is Derek Moore and I'm from London, England. Im at present writing a children's TV series based on a mobile app game i have out. Am wondering if anyone has ever been to the CMC in the UK before? It's obviously all online this year but will be my first time. I've already been given some slots for 15 minute pitches with some broadcasters and animation companies but am curious to hear if anyone has attended before and received success from it?

Karen "Kay" Ross

Hey, Derek Moore! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage32. Nice to meet you! Wow, congrats on your game, and the new series from it! I haven't been to CMC, but I can tell you that ALL of the pitches on Stage32 are done virtually, so this one should be hosted similarly.

Maybe check out the Producing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing) and the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting) to see if anyone has any insight as well!

I would HIGHLY suggest practicing your pitch, and our Writer's Room (https://www.stage32.com/writersroom) has both a weekly pitch practice with peer feedback and a monthly Pitch Tank with executive feedback. Here is our free Stage32 Pitch Guidebook to help you: https://www.stage32.com/sites/stage32.com/themes/two/pdfs/happy-writers/...

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to meet and mingle!

Hi Kay, thanks for all this info, shall definitely look through the guide book for extra tips though I think i'll be ok with the pitches as i pitched in front of some of the biggest toy companies and licencees in the world last September who loved my pitch and said if i get a TV series commissioned, they'd make the toys.

I had to write an 'intro pitch' too as such to the buyers at the CMC first followed by a request to ask for a meeting and if they thought the project interests them, then they accept the meeting request. I've since had meetings booked from a BAFTA winning UK animation studio and another from China plus from a main UK broadcaster and Chinese media company.

The pitches aren't till July 2nd so i'm hoping to receive some more by then but as its my first time at the event i was just wondering if anyone had been to one and knew of some successes from them.

Anyway, thanks again Kay and hope to chat again with some good news!
