Introduce Yourself : Introduction by Odipo Riaga

Introduction

Hello everyone,

It's my first post so allow me to introduce myself. I am a Film Director based in Nakuru Kenya and I have one feature film under my name and several short films. I recently finished writing the screenplay that if produced will work as my second feature - action movie highlighting human trafficking menace.

The current trend seems to be preference for African made films. I am available to work with any producers either as a Writer or Director or both for an African made story biased towards action, sci-fi, or family drama, so if you are looking for an African director I'd be happy to collaborate.

Many thanks and all the best to everyone.

Hey, Odipo Riaga! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage 32. Nice to meet you, and welcome to the community! Congrats on your finished films, that's awesome! Have you tried submitting your screenplay for any contests? It sounds like it could be a good fit for Stage 32's Diverse Voices Contest: https://www.stage32.com/happy-writers/contests/1st-Annual-Diverse-Voices-Screenwriting-Contest

Otherwise, Definitely reach out to our Director of Script Services, Jason Mirch, who is excellent at matching projects with potential executives (or possibly managers, in your case): J.Mirch@stage32.com Feel free to use our free Pitching Guidebook to start building your pitch: https://www.stage32.com/sites/stage32.com/themes/two/pdfs/happy-writers/...

I’m sure you’ve already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely reach out on the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) for insight into characters, dialogue, and even when you want to generate interest in a virtual table read!

Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect! And, of course, feel free to reach out at any time.
