Does anyone have any thoughts on how important the location (country) and previous credits of a writer are in terms of getting a feature script to greenlight by a studio? I am looking to hire an experienced writer to create an original screenplay idea for my production company.
I am evaluating a large variety of writers from different countries and with varying degrees of existing success and I would love to get anyone’s take on whether it’s important for the writer to be from the United States, UK, etc or if any country in the world is ok?

Developing the writing skills is the easy part... you want to find people who are as passionate as you about storytelling and have similiar goals... you can find a writer with a ton of credits but they might not have the same attitude or goals as you.. at the end of the day you want to find people you jive/resonate with... those are the ones who will not only bring you great success but will develop life long friendships... p.s. looking for work/friends (:
Phillip Lew Maybe track record - scripts from writers that are more in demand mean something, not least of all that other people are buying.
