Introduce Yourself : Screenwriter from Scotland by Terry Dray

Terry Dray

Screenwriter from Scotland

Hi all, I'm a recent graduate from Screen Academy Scotland at Edinburgh Napier University with a Masters in Screenwriting.

I'm a product of growing up in Leith, Edinburgh, of the 1970s. Since Secondary school I've been involved with theatre and performance in some form or another. During the 1990s I wrote and performed a comedy stand-up routine in and around Glasgow, Scotland. This led to acting work which led to gaining a University honours degree in filmmaking. Over the past 20 years since graduating I've worked in film and television in various guises, most recently working with local musicians, actors and performers creating music videos, short films and promo videos.

In 2019 I decided that I wanted to become a writer full time and embarked on a Masters in Screenwriting to gain a better understanding of the process. With the year's course now finished and armed with my Masters I'm now throwing myself into writing for film and television with features and pilots screenplays already written or in process.

I'm looking forward to reading and contributing to this screenwriting community.

Welcome to the community, Terry! I am the Director of Script Services at Stage 32. We have a fantastic writing community based in Scotland and I am excited to have you here as well. Congratulations on your Masters and I look forward to seeing more of you on the site. In fact, I would love to have you join the Writers' Room for a free month to meet some fellow screenwriters - one of which is also based in Scotland. Feel free to reach out to me at j.mirch@stage32.com
