Introduce Yourself : Producer by Leo Proano

Hello! I'm a producer based in the Dominican Republic. Currently working on developing a RomCom feature film and a period parody limited TV series. A French colleague wrote the script for the feature film. It is similar to the movie "The Other Woman" and "Friends With Benefits." The limited series parody is a period piece revealing the first encounter of the Mayan Indians with the Spanish settlers. Similar in nature to Norsmen.

Our country has an incredible law to help finance low-budget films ranging from 1 to 2 million dollars. These films have to be mainly in Spanish, but the tax credit to the local investors is 100%. The catch is that all local producers are fighting for the same funds every fiscal year. So to entice the investors to give us the money and not another producer, we have to provide them with some benefit, even though they get a full 100% tax credit for their investment. The average cost to acquire these funds is about 25% of the budget. Regardless, this reduces risk, which is always a plus.
