About twenty years ago, I landed a part time job with Esparza-Katz productions in L.A. as an assistant to the Administrative Assistant. My job was simply to answer calls and perform various office duties . . . I was a film student at the time and this was going to serve as a paid internship. I was young and eager to get my filmmaking career going and I already had written a couple of screenplays. My desk was located about 15 feet from the big man's office . . . Film Producer and President, Montezuma Esparza, himself. I couldn't ask for a better situation to get my feet wet and to get connected. But after just one day, I felt it wasn't really for me and quit. And till this day, as I still struggle to break into the industry, I regret that decision . . . Major failure.
It is really hard to say how things could be different had you not quit that day Gerry. If I have learned one thing in my career, it is to trust your gut - which you did that day! So to that, I say CONGRATULATIONS! Thank you so much for sharing your story Gerry
Gerry Ibarra , a couple of questions
Why would someone in your position have current regret? Especially with all of the lessons that I’m sure you have learned .
Second, weren’t you wise to realize the job wasn’t for you without making a longer commitment?
