I have nearly no experience in this business really, but my theory is that if I cannot see what my director sees I cannot be who I need to be. I need to be able to work freely within the director's frame of mind using all I know or have. The director is also looking, flexibly, from within their frame of mind, for a spark. This is just my fortune cookie bologna at this point having never experienced it. A metaphysical experience would be radical. I am taking beginner acting classes now. Any tips for a new guy in a big hurry?
The only thing between myself and my director being some agency of reputation.
It's all about trust. If you're an actor, you'll want to feel safe with your director. If you're a director, you'll want to earn your actors' trust.
