Financing / Crowdfunding : Marketing Advice Needed by David Tenenbaum

Marketing Advice Needed

We've just produced the pilot episode of animated Trump satire that everyone says is awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-onr4ZEpqEg

Of course, like with every project, there's the intense energy of the development process and then the potential crickets when you actually try to get a rep involved. I feel like we've worked too hard (and spent too much) to now have to get down on our knees and beg agents to do something we could easily do ourselves, but is approaching Netflix or Hulu directly at all practical?

I would post this over in the Distribution lounge. I think you might find better help with getting it out in front of people over there!

Hey David, this is Karen from the Stage 32 team. I just wanted to let you know I moved your post from Post-Production to Financing / Crowdfunding, as it fits much better there. Let me know if you have any questions, and all the best to you!

You can send stuff straight to Netflix etc but it’s likely to be trashed and not looked at. You need to go through a known production company, agent or your distributor. Get one of those by entering it to a lot of ff and getting awards. Nothing is quick. Nothing comes for nothing in this industry. It takes money and time. . Good luck.

The Stage 32 Finance Summit can give you some good expert Distribution advice (see the Education link for the replay). Every single Netflix executive that has gone on camera has echoed the same sentiment about wanting represented talent only. BUT Variety Magazine just had a summit this week talking about the sheer volume of new streaming networks! You may have to do a little research but I’m sure you’ll find a home. Hint: Find projects similar to yours that got made and check the END CREDITS. GOODLUCK!
