Anything Goes : Inspiration… by Sam Ornstein

Inspiration…

Hello fellow artists, because all things pertaining to ancient Egyptian have been extremely important to me most of my life, I began writing a novel about being regressed back to ancient Egypt. After about a third into it I decided it would be better as a movie. So, I began writing a screenplay which, although being well received, was not enough to get an agent. Now I had a complete scenario, and after re-evaluating it I concluded it should be a novel, and so I novelized it. Then it dawned on me that it’s true identity was as a musical stage play. I’m about 1/3 into it, rhyming all the dialogue and hoping it will be closer to a song format. I’m loving the writing process, and I’m thrilled I can devote 2 or 3 hours every morning to writing. I’m open to comments…

Can't offer anything in terms of advice or comments of any practical help I'm afraid but, just like the enthusiasm and ability to let what you're writing find its own way. The best stuff always has to go through an absolute mountain of re-writes, vast parts cut out as maybe not a good idea only to come back later and decide actually; that'd be really good if I worked it in with this...

Many people seem to find that part too frustrating which is understandable especially if you already spent months or even years on it.

When you're having fun with all the changes and bouncing back and forth, it makes the end result even better.

Good luck!
