Hi fellow creatives! My name is Kim Ortiz and I am a newbie to the screenwriting and tv/film industry. My background is in music business and artist management. About two years ago, I made the transition from music publishing into screenwriting. It's been an absolute thrill and pleasure to tap into a medium of art that I've always been passionate about. There's also been a learning curve that comes with the territory of starting a new career, which is why I'm so grateful for opportunities and platforms like this to connect with other creatives. I've been blessed to have some early success in the festival world with my latest short film, "Happy Hour," which is available on YouTube and my first ever drama pilot, which placed as a Quarter Finalist in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriters Competition. My genres of choice are 1 hour dramas (crime and family) and half-hour dramedies. Thanks for making this space safe and inviting. Feel free to check out my profile and connect. Happy writing!
Hello
Welcome, Kim. Onward and upward.
Happy writing to you as well!
Great to meet you, Kim Ortiz, and welcome to the community! Happy writing, indeed! What an incredible journey you've been on! Ooo - let's geek out about dramedies! What would you say are your top three? I'm obsessed with Sex Education at the moment, but Orange is the New Black was the first one where I took note of the comedy/drama line being skirted but still knocking it out of the park.
